Four decades of care — and a stronger future.
Beginning with Performing Arts Lodges Canada and continuing through PAL Canada Foundation and its chapters, a dedicated community of artists and arts advocates has stood beside Canada's creative community for 40 years.
Together, they have supported the people who helped shape our nation's cultural identity through music, theatre, film, television, dance, comedy, storytelling, and visual art.
Now, in 2026, we proudly enter a new chapter with a new identity that more clearly reflects who we are and the national work we do.
The name Supporting Cast Canada captures our mission with greater clarity, warmth, and inclusivity.
While PAL chapters across Canada continue their important work providing affordable housing and local community support, our national organization has evolved into a broader movement focused on:
- Supporting senior and disadvantaged arts professionals
- Reducing isolation and loneliness
- Creating connection and belonging
- Preserving Canada's artistic heritage
- Advocating for the well-being of creative communities nationwide
Behind every stage production, every television show, every concert, every film, and every cultural moment — are people whose contributions helped shape Canada itself.
Too often, many of these artists and arts workers face isolation, financial hardship, or are forgotten after a lifetime of contribution.
We believe they deserve better.
That belief remains at the heart of everything we do.
Supporting Cast Canada creates programs and initiatives that foster:
Connection
Programs like Game Days, Tea Time, Book Pals, Check In and Chat, Cyberizing Seniors, and the Behind the Scenes Youth Masterclass Series help combat isolation and build meaningful relationships.
Creativity
Initiatives like The Artwell and Canada Stories celebrate and preserve the voices and artistic legacies of Canadian creatives.
Community
We bring generations together through mentorship, storytelling, workshops, and shared artistic experiences.
Advocacy
We champion recognition, dignity, and support for Canada's senior arts and entertainment professionals.
While our name has changed,
our commitment has not.
Supporting Cast Canada proudly continues the legacy established by Performing Arts Lodges Canada, PAL Canada Foundation and its Chapters for four decades, while embracing a future that is more visible, more connected, and more reflective of the communities we serve today.
This is more than a rebrand.
It is a renewed vision for how Canada cares for the people who helped shape its culture.
It is an invitation to artists, supporters, donors, volunteers, and partners across the country to come together in a stronger national movement.
It is a reminder that creativity does not retire, and neither should community.
